My April Favorites!

Another monthly favorites post! April feels like it has gone by so quickly, while March crept by slowly. I didn’t get the opportunity to try as many new things this month because of not being able to leave the house that much. However, some of my favorites from this month are things that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home! Without further ado, here are my favorite things from the month of April.

Ferguson, My Leopard Gecko

On March 30th, I adopted a leopard gecko from Petsmart. His name is Ferguson! I have known for the past couple months that I wanted to adopt a leopard gecko, but while living on campus for college I wouldn’t be able to have him. When I had to move home because of quarantine, I realized that I would finally be able to adopt my pet. I told my parents I was going to pick him up (thankfully they gave their blessing). Now I’ve had him for just over three weeks and I love him! He’s so low-maintenance and a great pet. During quarantine and the general sadness associated with having to leave college and my friends two and a half months early, it’s been a huge blessing to be able to focus on Ferguson and learn about how to handle him. I get to handle him for half an hour every night and during the day, while I’m working or doing homework, he sleeps. The perfect pet! If you’re planning on adopting a pet during quarantine, make sure that you do the appropriate research on the pet.

Ferguson, the love of my life

The Morning Show

The Morning Show is one of AppleTV’s new shows. When I got my phone for my birthday, I was able to get a subscription for AppleTv for a year. I like it so much, I know I’ll purchase the subscription when my free year is up. The Morning Show is the first AppleTV show I’ve watched and it’s great so far. Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon? I think, yes please! Both actresses kick ass in this series and really display their ability to get into character. I highly recommend this show! I’ve been binging it all month.

Overnight Oats

This has quickly become my favorite breakfast recipe. Growing up, I never ate oatmeal. Frankly, I didn’t like the idea of it. Then, about four months ago, I saw a recipe for it on Pinterest. And then I saw recipes for it on TikTok. It became something that I thought about a little bit more and more every day until I decided I was going to make it. And wow, was that the right decision! Absolutely delicious, and I try to eat it two to three times a week. I have the simplest recipe in the world:

  • 1/2 cup of steel cut oats
  • 1/2 cup Greek vanilla yogurt (I use Chobani, but there are tons of vegan options as well!)
  • 1/2 cup Oatly oat milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • A dash of vanilla extract
  • In the morning, I add honey and dark chocolate chips for added sweetness

So easy! I can mix everything together in five minutes and then put it in the fridge overnight. Then, in the morning, put it in a bowl and add my fixings in the morning and go. So simple, so easy, I highly recommend!

The Gone Series by Michael Grant

I’ve gotten back into reading during quarantine (hello, time to kill!). I had previously read the book series about six or seven years ago and enjoyed it immensely. Two years ago, I saw that another book had been added to the series. I had gotten a deal for it on Amazon (Kindle copy for $1.99!) and hadn’t touched it yet. Now, I’m reading it and enjoying it. The Gone series is kind of dark YA. One day, everyone over the age of 15 disappears. And some kids have abilities. And there’s a monster lurking. It’s very good. I recommend it to all ages (so long as you don’t scare too easy). You can find the first book of the series on Amazon here.

Big Little Lies

Another tv show that I’ve been binging all month! I had read the book by Liane Moriarty last year and had loved it. When HBO made it available on all platforms for free during quarantine (yes, you read that right!), I made sure to watch it. You can find the book on Amazon here! I highly recommend it because it takes so many twists and turns and I didn’t know the killer was until the last page. The TV show is amazing as well; all of the actresses are flawless. I can’t recommend it enough!

Those are my favorites for this month! A bit of a slower month when it comes to trying new things, but I have some things in the works. I’m going to work on some content during quarantine (between school, working, writing, and getting my real estate license) when I can. I look forward to all of the things I get to work on! Stay tuned for more. And, as always, thank you so much for reading!

Love,
