Why Did I Start My Blog?

I can’t believe I’ve been running this blog for almost a year! My first post was How to Deal with Stress posted on May 8th, 2018. Looking back at some of my older posts is so nostalgic! My writing style has changed a lot, as has the way that I’ve done my layouts for each post. As I was reviewing all of my posts and things that I’ve written about, I realized a few things. Here’s why I started my blog!

I love writing. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved writing all sorts of things. I wrote a novel in high school, I dabbled in poetry, and I actually tried running a fashion blog during high school. During my sophomore year of college, I wanted to start writing again. I had been running my kaitlinpowellbooks.com website for a long time, ever since I published my novel before my freshman year. However, that blog didn’t feel like the right outlet for the types of posts I do on kaitlinhpowell.com! That website was dedicated to everything novel and writing related. And then I had the idea to create a new website! I immediately started designing the entire site and brainstorming what types of posts I wanted to make. And here we are now!

I love the schedule of it. With my other blog, kaitlinpowellbooks.com, I tried to post something every single week day. It was a lot and my writing suffered for it. I wasn’t able to take my time on each post so that the writing was eloquent and clear. Posts were shorter and not as thought out. When I started this blog, I knew I wanted to make sure it was spaced out enough that my writing could take the time that it needed. I started posting every Monday and Friday. It was a perfect system and still is! I can write as much or as little a day as I want to while still being able to schedule content. My creativity can take a small rest here and there as needed. The schedule of this site has helped my writing immensely and it’s a part of the reason why I started this blog!

It’s fun to share my experience and memories. That’s another part of this blog that I love. I get to write about things that make me happy or things that are important to me! I’ve traveled all over the United States for volleyball and getting to write about it is a complete dream come true. I’m very fortunate to have this blog and be able to write about whatever I want. It’s a great way to express myself and I’m thankful that I have readers like you who motivate me to keep going! I can’t thank everyone enough.

These are the reasons why I started my blog. I’m lucky to have an opportunity to write about everything I want and to have people who like to read it. Writing is one of my favorite things in the world. I hope it always is. Thank you for reading!

Love,

Kaitlin
