Happy New Year! Happy New Decade! It’s crazy to think it’s a new decade and a new year already. I feel like 2019 was a very fast year, especially in comparison to years prior. So many great things happened in 2019, but I am super excited to think of everything that is going to come in 2020. There are so many opportunities and amazing memories ahead and I can’t wait to see them! Before any of that, here are some of my goals and resolutions going into the new year.
Spend More Time Writing
This is going to be a big goal for me. Now that I am done playing collegiate volleyball and have a bit more time on my hands, I want to spend more time honing my craft and producing more works, blogs, and other projects. I will continue with this blog to work on my contemporary writing, such as posts like this! I do want to work on my ability to write fiction well and perhaps rewrite my first book, Soulmates. I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head that I want to explore more and look forward to the opportunity to do so in this new year!
Eat Healthy and Be Mindful
Life is different after collegiate sports. I’m not working out multiple times a day anymore. My diet needs to change to reflect that in order to stay in the shape that I am. One of my goals is to mindful of what I’m eating! During the holiday season, I enjoyed some indulgences that I didn’t eat previously (ex: fried foods). While I am happy that I had the ability to enjoy them, I’m going to work hard in the new year to focus on eating healthy and making the right choices for my body. I went vegetarian for a multitude of reasons and being healthy was one of them. One of my Christmas presents this year was a vegetarian cookbook with tons of delicious looking recipes that are good for me. I’m looking forward to trying them!
Focus on Real Things and People
It’s the start of a new decade and I want to focus on everything that matters. It’s easy to get caught up in things and people that don’t matter. Everyone’s done it. I’m guilty of it as well. An important lesson that I learned last year was that everyone is in charge of the importance they place in things and people. I want to focus on the people in my life that matter: my family, my friends, my coworkers, and my schoolmates. I want to strengthen the friendships I have and build on some to make those friendships stronger. I want to focus on my health and my school to make my last semester of college as great as it can be. I want to be as happy and fulfilled as possible this year!
Those are the things I’m going to try to work on in 2020. Each goal has a lot of meaning to me and is very significant. I’m going to try and grow as much as I can in 2020 to become the best person I can be, for myself and for the people in my life. I’m excited for this new year! Thank you so much for reading!
Love,
