Why I Got the Barnes and Noble Membership!

About two weeks ago, I made the decision to switch from Kindle ebooks to physical print books. Growing up, I would always have my nose stuck in a book. One of my favorite smells in the world is the smell of old books (and new books…and any type of book, really). I won’t lie, I did miss the feeling of a heavy book in my hands and the soothing turning of the pages. Since making that decision, I’ve been to Barnes and Noble three times already. The first time I went, I made sure to get a Barnes and Noble Membership!

I’ve had the membership before, but it expires a year after it’s registered. My old membership had expired in 2018 or probably earlier, before I had switched to Kindle ebooks. The membership itself costs $25 for the entire calendar year and I think it’s more than worth it!

The Benefits

40% Off Hardcover Bestsellers In-Store

Right after getting the membership, I went to the best-sellers section of the store. I was able to snag House of Earth and Blood, the first book of Crescent City by Sarah J Maas. Thanks to my membership, I was able to save 40% off the cover price and only paid around $18, instead of the (slightly-staggering) $28.00. And it’s 40% off every hardcover bestseller in store! Every time you visit!

10% Off In-Store

This is probably the best part of the membership. Basically everything in-store (including stuff from the cafe!) Every book I buy gets an automatic ten percent off, which really adds up with the more books that I get. It’s really nice too when it’s paired with their double days where members can double their discounts!

Exclusive In-Store and Online Offers

If you get the membership, you get members-only coupons all throughout the year. These savings add up over time and make it easer to make the bigger purchases, like collector editions!

Free Shipping Online

This was one perk I was more than pleased with. I loved shopping in-store (and just being surrounded by books), but every now and then I have to make a purchase online (most recently, the exclusive Barnes and Noble edition of The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black) and it was so nice not to have to worry about shipping! Every order is free two-day shipping.

Early Access

Members also get early access to various books, events, author signings, and more! You get to stay in the loop on a lot of different things throughout the bookstore.

Special Birthday Offer

On your birthday, you get a special discount! Before your big day, Barnes and Noble will send an email to you enclosing your birthday offer.

All in all, I think the membership is more than worth it! On the first day of buying books, I ended up saving over $36 on my total purchase. Since the membership was only $25, it already paid for itself! Over time, if you’re an avid shopper of Barnes and Noble, this membership is more than worth it. I highly suggest heading into your local B&N and get one for yourself!

Thank you so much for reading! What are some of your favorite books? Have any recommendations? Let me know!

Love,

Kaitlin
