I love books. I’m a huge book nerd (I’m talking multiple literary tattoos planned) and when I came across a monthly subscription box that comes with signed special edition books each month and exclusive items and products based off of fan-favourite series, I knew it was something I had to have. And that’s how I ended up subscribing to The Bookish Box. The first box I subscribed to is the September 2020 box!
Note: While I love this company and all they have to offer, there are long shipping times associated with their products. Because of COVID-19 and everyone ordering numerous things online, the processing time is approximately four weeks from the purchase date. If you don’t mind being patient, this shop has a lot to offer!
Theme: Thick as Thieves
Every month, the Bookish Box has a different theme. For September, they did a Thick as Thieves Theme. On the @thebookishbox Instagram, it is described: “This theme is all about found family in books we love. Featuring inspiration from books: The Raven Cycle, Throne of Glass, Percy Jackson, A Court of Mist and Fury, and Sorcery of Thorns.” When I read this, my heart rate jumped. I love three of the five books mentioned (haven’t read the other two, but they are on my list to be read) and knew that this was a good month to start my subscription. There will be 3-5 items that will be included in the box that have to do with these books and I can’t wait to see what they are!
Book of the Month
“Our book of the month is Fable by Adrienne Young. Our copy will be an exclusive signed edition with a reversible dust jacket and will also include gold foiling on the hardcover of the first edition.” -Bookish Box Instagram. I am so excited to see how beautiful this book will be! I’m a sucker for signed books, but when they’re absolutely drop-dead gorgeous as well? Be still, my heart.
Items
There were so many cute items in the September box! There was a shirt with a quote from Sorcery of Thorns, one of my favourite books that I have read this year: “You belong in a library, as much as any book.” There was also a necklace of a grimoire included, which is supposed to represent the books in Elisabeth’s library. There was a cute candle from the Percy Jackson series that is called “The Golden Fleece” and there was a tea strainer from A Court of Mist and Fury (which is so cute!). There was a tote bag from the Throne of Glass series and an exclusive pin from the Raven Cycle. There was also an Annabeth Chase tarot called included in the pack. Overall, there was so many goodies within the September Bookish Box that I almost couldn’t believe it!
Final Thoughts
I believe that this box was worth every penny. You can subscribe right here (the Book, Shirt, and Goodies bundle) for $52.50 a month. If you don’t like that price point, there are different options to choose from so that everyone is happy. I really enjoy getting the subscription box so much and will look forward to the wonderful boxes I will receive every month. It’s one of the most perfect gift ideas for anyone bookish in your life! One important note would be that the shipping times are a bit skewed at the moment. It might be because of the recent influx of orders or because of COVID-19, but it’s taking about two weeks longer than it should to receive your package. I order the September Bookish Box on August 3rd, it didn’t ship until October 2nd (because of something that had happened with the publisher for the August book) and I didn’t get it in the mail until October 16th. If you don’t mind waiting, then great! I just wanted to give everyone a fair warning so that they don’t have to wait around longer than necessary.
Is the Bookish Box something that you’re interested in? Check out their online shop, they have some wonderful bookish items that I think every reader will enjoy! I know that this is a company I’m going to support for a while. I’m so thankful that I found the Bookish Box and knew I had to share. Thank you so much for reading!
Love,
Kaitlin
