Books That I Want to Read in 2021!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: 2021 is the year for books. There are so many great releases scheduled and I cannot wait to get my lil hands on the books when they come out. Not only are there super exciting releases, there are books (and even complete series) that are out but I just haven’t read it yet. I’ve read several books this year already, but I’m hoping to read more than ever before (not sure of my exact record in a year, but my highest recorded record is in the eighties). Here are some of the books that I am so, so, so excited to read in 2021!

Covet and Court by Tracy Wolff

I read the first two books last year and loved them. The second book ended on such a cliffhanger that I was frowning for two days after finishing the book. Covet has already come out and I have it safely tucked away in my room. I plan on rereading Crave and Crush before starting Covet, and then doing it all over again in September when Court (the grand finale) is released. I’m so excited just because I love the style of writing that Wolff has. It reminds me of books I read in high school (and I mean that in the best way). I’m super excited to read it this year!

A Touch of Darkness Series by Scarlett St Clair

A modern-day adult retelling of Hades and Persephone? Sign me UP. love The Bookish Box. When they announced that they were going to do an exclusive edition of A Touch of Darkness series, I was happy to hear it. I had heard about the series before, but knowing that there would be a special edition of it made it more appealing to me. Also, the series is available on Kindle Unlimited! I might read the series before The Bookish Box releases their edition. There are four books in the main series (which I think is told from Persephone’s perspective, but the fourth book might be dual-POV) and three books in the Hades saga, which is the series told from his point of view. I love Greek mythology (thanks, Rick Riordan!) so I know I’m going to read the hell out of this series!

Namesake by Adrienne Young

My very first Bookish Box was Fable by Adrienne Young, so it seems fitting to order the second and final book in the series when the Bookish Box announced that they were going to be able to make an exclusive edition! The first book ended on such a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see how everything is resolved. I highly recommend this series, you can check it out right here.

All The Scars and Teeth & All the Tides of Fate by Adalyn Grace

Mermaids, pirates, and saving kingdoms? Sign me up! I have heard such great things about this duology. I got involved with the preorder campaign and got a beautiful poster, art prints, and an enamel pin. I posted about them on my bookstagram (@court.of.good.books on insta) and can’t wait to dive into this series (pun intended).

She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen

I’m a sucker for a sports romance. Add in enemies-to-lovers and a fake-dating trope? I’m hooked. This romance novel is coming out in April and I just know I’m going to enjoy it. I haven’t read any of her previously published books, but her name is familiar to me. I’m sure I’ve heard about her or one of her books around Instagram somewhere. I’ll be sure to post a review once I’ve read it!

Lore by Alexandra Bracken

Greek mythology? Check. Bookish Box exclusive edition? Check. Loads of wonderful and positive reviews? Double check. Sign me up for Lore by Alexandra Bracken! I wanted to pick this book up when Barnes and Noble did an exclusive edition, but I didn’t purchase it in time. Then, weeks later, the Bookish Box announced they’re going to do an exclusive box? I knew I was going to purchase it immediately. I have heard great things about this book and I cannot wait to get into it.

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout

I was able to snag one of the few hand-signed From Blood and Ash boxes from the Bookish Box (linked right here for reference). This box is going to be PACKED full of goodies and I am über-excited. A shirt, 5-7 goodies, AND the first three books that are beautifully done? I’m talking double-sided dust jackets, stencil sprayed edges, and foiling on the hardcover? These books might just be the most gorgeous thing I own. Not to mention that this book series is one of the highest-reviewed series on Goodreads. I cannot wait to see what happens in this series!

The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik

I read the first book in the series, A Deadly Education, and loved it. When I heard that the next book was coming out in 2021, I was stoked. I love the protagonist for being so realistic and aloof while her love interest is a big try-hard. I’m a big fan of the opposites-attract trope, and this series fits into it perfectly. The ending of the first book ended on a cliffhanger, so I’m very excited to figure out what happens in the second book!

Blood and Honey/Gods and Monsters by Shelby Mahurin

I know, I know. It’s been over six months since the release of Blood and Honey and I still haven’t touched it. I think I’m going to wait until August and read the entire trilogy together. My fingers are crossed that I won’t come across any spoilers for Blood and Honey. I remember how fondly I thought of the first book when I read it for the first time in 2020. I cannot wait to see what else happens in this series!

Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco

The October book of the month from The Bookish Box was the first book in this series, Kingdom of the Wicked. I thoroughly enjoyed it and when I read the last chapter of the book, I knew I had to get my hands on the second book ay-sap! I managed to snag the Barnes and Noble Exclusive Edition of the book by preordering it. It won’t be available until fall, but good things are worth the wait, right?

Crescent City #2 by Sarah J Maas

I loved House of Earth and Blood. We’re so lucky to be getting two books from Sarah J Maas in just one year. A Court of Silver Flames was everything I wanted it to be and more, so I can’t wait to see what Maas does with the second book for Crescent City. I loved all of the characters and want to see what happens next–I have some ideas!

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

I just got the third and final book in the series from The Bookish Box and I can’t wait to read it! Without meaning to, I accidentally didn’t read this series until it was complete. Up side is that when I finish the first and second books, I don’t have to wait at all to dive into the finale! I have heard such great things about this series and I can’t wait to fall in love with the world.

Those are just some of the books that I can’t wait to read in 2021! This year is going to be great for everything bookish–and I mean that literally! The Bookish Box announced that they were going to do some exclusive editions of some very very popular books and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Do you have any recommendations? Let me know down in the comments! And, as always, thank you so much for reading!
