Superstore: Series Review!

I’m a huge fan of sitcoms. They’re super appealing to me, especially when they have memorable characters and original plot lines that keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. Superstore had all of that. Right from the get-go, there is a memorable and original start. Jonah (the main protagonist) starts a new job at the local Cloud 9 (think competition for Target) and meets some of the most interesting people in town.

Dinah, Amy, Mateo, Glenn, and the rest of the cast are so diverse and funny and smart. While the style of the show is quite reminiscent of The Office and Parks in Recreation, if only for the dry humour and the found family trope. In the six seasons of Superstore, there are so many moments that show the love and respect that the characters have for each other. Not to mention, there are so many moments that are truly and thoroughly hilarious and comedic.

Season One can only be described as an experience. I’ve been rewatching it in the background while working or writing. There are so many little nuances that can be easily missed unless you know to look for them–which I would since this is the third time I’ve seen the first season. Having just recently watched the season finale and seeing the first season right after, it truly is amazing to see how many similarities and foreshadowing and undertones that there are to support the plot of the show.

Seasons two through four are enjoyable, of course, but season five and season six are up there with season one. The character development, the ups and downs that they face, and the unique banter between Dinah and Glenn..it’s all *chef’s kiss*. There is nothing like the dynamic between the two authority figures. The love story that blossoms between Jonah and Amy is so authentic and natural.

Thanks to Hulu, I was able to watch this amazing show from start to finish. I recommend it to a lot of people just for the fact that there is something there for everyone! No matter what you’re into, it’s guaranteed to be in this amazing series. There’s love, drama, hate, lawsuits, bird jokes, severed feet, and loads more.

This is one of the most original shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching and I was always on the edge of my seat when watching it for the first time. I never knew where it was going to go next and (admittedly) didn’t like some of the twists that the show took. However, I stuck with it, and was more than happy with the ending! The finale was gratifying and tied up every single loose end.

Superstore is one of the few shows that I watched from start to finish. I’m a terrible person because I have only finished about six shows in their entirety. But the fact that I have finished this show means a lot to me and I highly recommend it to a lot of people. While it might not be my favourite show I’ve ever watched, I definitely loved it.

Have you watched Superstore? Did you like it? Let me know down in the comments! And, as always, thank you so much for reading!

Love,

Kaitlin
