Everyone tends to get time off from school, work, and jobs in order to celebrate the holidays with their families. One of the benefits of this is the time everyone has to be able to catch up on their reading! I have always loved Christmas break because I get to spend time with friends, family, and my books.
I’m a big fan of Reese Witherspoon’s book club with Hello Sunshine, so I wanted to include two of the previous book club picks in this post! Reese definitely puts a lot of work into finding the best books out there so I have no qualms over recommending her picks. The December book of the month is One Day in December. After reading the synopsis on Goodreads, I immediately wanted to read it. There are some other great romance books that I have my eye on!
One Day in December
Synopsis: Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story.Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic…and then her bus drives away. Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be. What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.
My Take: I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, but it’s definitely on my list. I really respect Reese’s choices, so I trust that this will be a quality read! I’m a sucker for unlikely romances and love at first sight falls under this category. I will read this before the end of the month for sure, and will probably write about it in My December Favorites. You can find One Day in Decemberhere on Amazon and here on Goodreads!

The Wedding Date
Synopsis: Agreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is something Alexa Monroe wouldn’t normally do. But there’s something about Drew Nichols that’s too hard to resist. On the eve of his ex’s wedding festivities, Drew is minus a plus one. Until a power outage strands him with the perfect candidate for a fake girlfriend… After Alexa and Drew have more fun than they ever thought possible, Drew has to fly back to Los Angeles and his job as a pediatric surgeon, and Alexa heads home to Berkeley, where she’s the mayor’s chief of staff. Too bad they can’t stop thinking about the other… They’re just two high-powered professionals on a collision course toward the long distance dating disaster of the century–or closing the gap between what they think they need and what they truly want…
My Take: I’m reading this book right now! It’s a fairly quick read, clocking in at about 300 pages. I started it on Wednesday night and have read more than half of it. It’s a charming tale of two likeminded people meeting in the strangest circumstances. It’s romantic and makes me smile almost every other page. With switching POVs, you can see how both protagonists are feeling. A fun fact about this book is that it was a third choice for the Annual Goodreads Choice Awards in the Romance category! Over 28,000 people voted for it. You can find this cute must-read here on Amazon and here on Goodreads!

The Proposal
Synopsis: When someone asks you to spend your life with him, it shouldn’t come as a surprise–or happen in front of 45,000 people. When freelance writer Nikole Paterson goes to a Dodgers game with her actor boyfriend, his man bun, and his bros, the last thing she expects is a scoreboard proposal. Saying no isn’t the hard part–they’ve only been dating for five months, and he can’t even spell her name correctly. The hard part is having to face a stadium full of disappointed fans… At the game with his sister, Carlos Ibarra comes to Nik’s rescue and rushes her away from a camera crew. He’s even there for her when the video goes viral and Nik’s social media blows up–in a bad way. Nik knows that in the wilds of LA, a handsome doctor like Carlos can’t be looking for anything serious, so she embarks on an epic rebound with him, filled with food, fun, and fantastic sex. But when their glorified hookups start breaking the rules, one of them has to be smart enough to put on the brakes…
My Take: This is the second book in the series after The Wedding Date and I cannot wait to read this one. Carlos, one of the protagonists, was a character in The Wedding Date. I love when the second book of a series continues the story of one of the supporting characters in the primary novel, such as the Scandal series. I purchased the Kindle version of this book right after I bought the first one, and I’m so glad that I did. Jasmine Guillory has such a great writing style that it’s easy to devour quickly! You need to read this book and can find it here on Amazon and here on Goodreads.

I Dare You
Synopsis: Badass Athlete: I dare you to…Delaney Shaw: Who is this? The late night text is random, but “Badass Athlete” sure seems to know who she is… Delaney Shaw. Good girl. Lover of fluffy kitties and Star Wars. Curious. His dare? Spend one night in his bed—a night he promises will be unforgettable—and she can solve the mystery of who he is. She knows she shouldn’t, but what else is she going to do with her boring Valentine’s Day? One sexy hook-up later, her mind is blown and the secret’s out. Maverick Monroe. Bad boy. The most talented football player in the country. Just ask him.Too bad for him Delaney’s sworn off dating athletes forever after her last heartbreak. But Maverick wants more than one night and refuses to give up on winning Delaney’s heart. She isn’t one to be fazed by a set of broad shoulders. Will the bad boy land the nerd girl or will the secrets they keep from each other separate them forever?
My Take: Another great Kindle Unlimited find! This came up on my Recommended Books feed on Goodreads and the cover was intriguing enough for me to read the synopsis and let me tell you, I downloaded the book immediately. I’m such a sucker for college romances and I can’t wait to read this book (after almost a hundred other books on my immediate to read list, haha!). I really suggest checking this book out for a refreshing twist on romance! You can find this book here on Amazon and here on Goodreads.

Only You
Synopsis: Nate Pearson is ridiculously handsome and wears the hell out of a suit and tie, but I’ve seen the parade of beautiful women leaving his apartment across the hall—a different one every time—and I want no part of it. When it comes to romance, I’m looking for something real, something that will last: the happily ever after. As a divorce attorney, he loves to tell me there’s no such thing. As a wedding planner, I choose to disagree. We disagree on almost everything, in fact. Everything except James Bond. The only time we really get along is when we’re watching 007 flicks together, and I’ll admit—he has rescued me from a disaster or five. So when one of the baton twirlers from his parade leaves a baby girl at his door with a note that says “I’ll come back for her” and he begs me for help, I can’t turn him down. But it’s a mistake. Because watching him with his daughter, I start to see another side of Nate, a side that has my breath coming faster, my body craving his, my heart longing for him to change his mind about love and tell me there’s a chance for us. I don’t want to be just another girl leaving his apartment in the morning. I want to be the one he asks to stay.
My Take: I also haven’t read this book yet but when I saw the cover, I was intrigued. When I read the summary, I knew I wanted to read it. It’s a Kindle Unlimited book as well, which means I can read it for free! Kindle Unlimited is for sure one of the best services Amazon has ever come out with. I highly recommend both Kindle Unlimited and Only You! You can find the book here on Amazon and here on Goodreads!
