Here we are, six months into the year! I am so excited because it has been a great year and will continue to be a great year for books. I’m talking about publications, book announcements, books being turned into TV shows/movies, and more. This year I was able to get a subscription to Illumicrate, a very popular bookish monthly box. My first box will be this month and I can’t wait! That and FairyLoot–the world’s most popular fantasy book box–had their restock sale. I was able to pick up a few books and items last month, which I was so happy about. I’m on their waitlist and hope that I get a subscription soon! Without further ado, here is the updated and mostly complete list of books that I have preordered!
From Blood and Ash || The Bookish Box
I ordered this back in January and it is supposed to ship out this month! This deluxe set purchased from the Bookish Box comes with all three books that have already been published in the From Blood and Ash series: From Blood and Ash, A Kingdom of Flesh and Bone, and A Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L Armentrout. The first book is signed by JLA and the other two have digital signatures. The exclusive editions from the Bookish Box will have: exclusive covers designed by @monolimeart, art on the reverse dust jackets by @nicole.deal.art, stencil sprayed edges, foil on the hardcover, exclusive chapter art, end pages, and art inside the books! I was able to snag the deluxe set, so it also comes with a shirt and 4-6 goodies! I’m super excited about this box and plan on filming an unboxing video for BookTube.
A Touch of Darkness || The Bookish Box
When they announced this box, I was so excited. I read this series last month and ordered this box back in April. This box is special because it’s A Touch of Darkness & A Game of Fate, the first books in the Persephone POV series and the first in the Hades POV. The books will be signed by the author, Scarlett St Clair, and will be super special: reimagined cover with gold foiling, reversible dust jacket, hardcover stamp, stencilled edges, artwork inside each edition, and will have custom end papers. This box will also come with a shirt and 3-5 extra goodies, which I can’t wait to get my hands on! I’m so stoked for September when this box is scheduled to ship.
Gods and Monsters || Wild Geese Bookshop & Bookish Box
The thrilling third and final instalment in the Serpent and Dove series is coming out in July. I can’t believe it—that’s next month. I preordered a personalised edition from wildgeesebookshop.com, along with the first two books in the series. I was able to choose the inscription—Shelby Mahurin is going to be signed books for me and I can’t get over how cool that is! Please, do yourself a favour and head over to wildgeesebookshop.com for signed and personalised books. I also ordered the version from the Bookish Box: exclusive cover, gold sprayed edges, reverse dust jacket by Nicole Deal Art, and signed by the author!
Lore || FairyLoot and Bookish Box
FairyLoot had their restock sale last week and this week, and I took full advantage. Back in January, when they had this in their monthly box, I fell in love with it. Stencil sprayed edges, digital signature, reverse dust jacket art, and more! With the Bookish Box, it’s signed by the author, exclusive cover art, and gold sprayed edges. The Bookish Box edition should be shipping any week now while the FairyLoot edition should be along in four to six weeks!
Crave || The Bookish Box
This box goes on sale today! I’m an active subscriber, so I’m fortunate enough to have early access. This set includes all four books: Crave, Crush, Covet, and Court. The Bookish Box did mention today that they will be doing an exclusive edition of the fifth book, Charm, which I am more than stoked about. The books are: signed by the author, Tracy Wolff, have exclusive dust jackets, reversible dust jackets, exclusive end papers, stencilled edges, hardcover stamp, gold foil on the dust jacket, and interior artwork. This set will also have a design on the spines of the books, so when they’re all together they’ll show the castle of Katmere Academy. I am SO excited about this2
Kingdom of the Cursed || Barnes & Noble + The Bookish Box
The October 2020 book of the month for The Bookish Box was Kingdom of the Wicked, the first in the series by Kerri Maniscalco. The second book, Kingdom of the Cursed, will have a matching special edition including sprayed edges! They haven’t announced when it will be available yet but I am looking forward to when it becomes available. The Barnes and Noble exclusive edition has an exclusive cover/dust jacket and comes with a scene told from Wrath’s POV. I preordered this one as soon as the Barnes and Noble Exclusive Edition was announced!
Once Upon a Broken Heart || Barnes & Noble
Stephanie Garber is a well known author, and for good reason. Her Caraval series was and continues to be insanely popular. When she announced that she was doing another series, I was excited. When I learned that Barnes and Noble was going to do an exclusive edition (with a pink cover) I was ecstatic. I preordered it so quickly! It’s coming out in September and I just can’t wait. Along with the exclusive cover, the book will be signed by Stephanie Garber, have a bonus epilogue, a hardcover stamp, and an interview between two characters!
The Last Graduate || Barnes & Noble
I read the first book, A Deadly Education, when it first came out last year. I was able to snag a signed first edition from Barnes and Noble, and was lucky enough to do the same thing with the sequel. The Last Graduate will be coming out in September and I cannot wait, I’ll be anxiously rereading the first book before I get to devour the second one during October (perfect time to read a spooky book, if you ask me!).
Our Violent Delights || FairyLoot
Another treasure from the FairyLoot trove. I was able to pick up the FairyLoot edition of Our Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. This edition has a signed bookplate, solid sprayed edges, and an exclusive cover. Next week, FairyLoot will be listing the sequel and final book in the duology on their website for preorder. It will have solid sprayed edges as well, along with an exclusive cover and signed by the author. It will be worth waking up at 5 am!
Ace of Spades || Illumicrate
I was lucky enough to snag a subscription to Illumicrate and June will be my first month. While perusing their site, I came across their Debut Box Special Edition Ace of Spades. This special edition will be the only hardback edition of the UK version with the UK cover (which I am more partial to than the US cover). The book will be signed by the author and will be accompanied by a wooden bookmark, an author letter, and an enamel pin. It should be shipping soon and I can’t wait to receive it!
Here’s to Us || B&N
The last and final book that I have preordered for 2021 so far is Here’s to Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. I got it from barnesandnoble.com (and should still be available to preorder the signed edition!). I have yet to read What If It’s Us and plan on doing so in time for the sequel to be released in late December.
That is the updated list of books that I preordered for 2021! It remains to be seen if this is the final list of books, but I have a good feeling that there won’t be much change (unless another author announces another book, of course). Do you have any recommendations? Do you want any more ideas for your TBR? Let me know down in the comments! And, as always, thank you so much for reading!
