I’m Participating in NaNoWriMo!

November is National Novel Writing Month! Every year, thousands of writers participate in NaNoWriMo where they each try to write 50,000 words in the month of November. The traditional route is to start a brand new novel on November 1, but that wasn’t the path I took. I’ve been working on my manuscript for a while now and just wanted to add 50k words to the total, perhaps completely finishing the first draft!

It’s a lofty goal, and I’m already more than halfway to the 50,000 words. Right now, at this moment, I have written 27,770 words. I’m a little behind on how many words I should have written by now, but in my defense, life got in the way. I’ve been busy with work, friends, and there was a small stint when I was under the weather for a few days. I might be able to get back on track after this weekend, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

NaNoWriMo is a wonderful time for writers and novelists to put a lot of time and effort into their craft and honing their stories. Some of my friends from bookstagram are participating as well and it has been wonderful seeing how much progress they have been making. It’s been so amazing to support each other and to cheer each other on as we all work closer to our goals.

My goal is definitely hitting the 50,000 words, but I won’t be too heartbroken if I don’t make it. I’ve already made wonderful progress with my manuscript and I’m proud of the work I have put into it. I trust that I will remain motivated to complete my manuscript on the timeline that works best for me.

Writing has been a long-time passion of mine and I am grateful for my love of the craft. My fingers are crossed that I finish my manuscript before the end of the year and begin editing before working on the querying process! Thank you so much for reading!

Love,

Kaitlin
